Intro To Paranormal Investigation Fall Semester

OPHIR has been secured to instruct classes related to paranormal research at Chemeketa Community College in Salem Oregon on an ongoing basis. After a successful Summer class, we have been asked to return for both Fall and Winter terms. This is great news for us, and starting in the Spring of 2012 we will be offering a more advanced instruction course. For the introductory course students will get hands on experience with some of the brand new equipment being utilized in the field today, as well as get a chance to familiarize themselves with some of the tools used when the field was brand new.

Intro to Paranormal Research

OPHIR will be teaching an introductory class to paranormal investigation and research at Chemeketa Community College in Salem Oregon starting this Monday, June 20th at 6:00pm. We are also on the schedule to hold this course during the Fall and Winter semesters as well. Talks are under way about Spring and Summer of 2012. Joe has been investigating and researching new tools for the paranormal field since 1991 and has spent the past 5 years modifying digital cameras to be more senitive to invisible light waves and is working on various projects in EVP and spirit manifestation.

Change Is Good

OPHIR is moving it's office and studio. We do not want to disclose the new location before everything is finalized, but we will say that it is a much more fitting location for a group that is concerned with historical research. It is also a place with much more foot traffic and hundreds of daily visitors which will greatly increase the group's visibility and public awareness.

We are also looking for volunteers to participate in an informational video/documentary about Ouija Boards and Divination. Any personal experiences with boards, tarot cards, fortune telling etc., drop us a line at investigations@team-ophir.com

We are also looking for a Case Manager and volunteer Camera People. CCTV certification preferred but not necessary for the right individual.

White Eagle

Members of OPHIR met yesterday with the Manager at McMenamins White Eagle Cafe and Saloon in Portland. The Pub, one of the oldest bars in Portland, has been in operation since 1905 and at one time house a Brothel on the second floor. We are planning to stay overnight in one of the second floor rooms that was the scene of a double homicide, suicide. We are in the process of working out the details with corporate headquarters, more details to come.

New Office

We are happy to report that OPHIR now has a downtown office. We are still in the process of painting and fixing it up, but we are now are located at 210 Liberty St.Suites G and F in Salem, directly across from the Phoenix Grand Hotel and Bentley's Restaurant.

One of the rooms (suite G) will serve as a research center and command central, here we will have the computers and equipment that we use to analyze data collected from investigation sites as well as any physical files or paperwork associated with investigations and group business. Suite F is our recording and video/audio editing studio. here we will record episodes of The Vortex Paranormal Talk Podcast in addition to webcasting live additions of the show streaming from SalemFm.com.

O Files, Vortex, Street Team

Finally, we've been talking about it for almost a year now, but the first episode of our show, "The O Files" is finally done and will be airing on CCTV in Salem within the next couple of weeks. We will post air times and dates as we get them. Thank you all for being patient and for supporting us the whole time. We are in the process of planing and organizing a few public events and fundraisers in the coming months...Please check back often to see what's happening.

We will also be recording the first episode of The Vortex sometime this week, so that will be available to listen to on our site as well.

We are also recruiting volunteers for our Street Team, this is a good way to get involved with the group on the ground floor and possibly earn the opportunity to work with the Research Team in the future.

UPDATE: I just got a copy of the Program Schedule from CCTV's Arlan Robinson. The show will Premiere this Friday night, March 26th at Midnight on Comcast's channel 22.

Slocum House Theater

Today, members of OPHIR visited the Slocum House Theater in Vancouver Washington. We met with Staff and got a tour of the Theater and heard about the history of the building and the Family who once owned it. We also heard about personal experiences that staff has had recently and over the years.

OPHIR's Research Team will be doing a historical check on the building and property and an investigation is scheduled for March. OPHIR will be producing a program to air on CCTV from the investigation and interview footage that will ensue from it.

Haunted Salem

Members of OPHIR will be participating in Culture Shock's 13 nights of Halloween and giving a presentation and slide show about some of the local haunts and folk-lore of Salem Oregon on Wednesday October 28 at the Ike Box in Downtown Salem from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

It seems that we are finally beginning to see our way out of the woods, we have regrouped and are once again moving forward with our original plans. We hope to have our first CCTV production ready to air by early Fall.

We are also in the early stages of planning and filming a series of short informational documentaries on various spiritual "taboos" and practices, and how they may or may not be related to paranormal activity as well as the nature of the paranormal itself.

We will soon have promotional materials available for sale such as hats, lanyards and T-shirts.

Due to recent changes in our membership and structure we have been set back slightly in our plans and time line. No worries however, we are still moving forward with the production of our CCTV programs this Spring. For those who live outside of the Willamette Valley area and wish to view our programs, we will be putting up links to our Youtube and Myspace T.V channels.

We are a registered Non-Profit Organization in the state of Oregon and soon to be Federally Tax-Exempt.
